National Drug Shortages

Many of our clients are facing shortages of Adderall and similar Schedule II medications such as Ritalin, Concerta, and Vynanse. (Schedule medications are controlled by federal regulations because they contain ingredients that may lead to abuse.). Causes for these shortages have been attributed to increasing demand and manufacturing problems. While some of these medications were initially prescribed to children with ADHD, adult usage has greatly increased. During the Covid-19 pandemic, Adderall prescriptions increased with the availability of Telehealth, which gave more people access to mental health care.

Churchill Counseling cares about its clients and is recommending that they contact their pharmacy to ascertain whether the pharmacy has the medication, and the correct dosage, in stock. Once you, the client, have verified where the medication is in stock, please contact our office with that information. We will then submit your prescription to that pharmacy. Please do not ask our prescribers or secretaries to search for your medication, as they have other responsibilities. Again, there is a national shortage of these medications – this in not confined to our area – and Churchill cannot control when, if, or where these medications will be available.

Thank you for your understanding.
